no game Tuesday, Sept 22nd

Again, not enough RSVPs for a game.

A number of us will be meeting at the Tuscan Market Trattoria at 5:30 on 63 Main St (Exit 2) in Salem, NH. We will either eat there, or, get take-out. Then, bicycle up the Salem-Windham-Derry paved rail trail as far as we see fit. Munch our food, then return. Please join us! It’s probably a good idea to let me know you are coming, bill@ankers.org.

RSVP for Tuesday, Sept 22nd in Tewksbury

Last week we didn’t have enough RSVPs to pull off a game. Let’s make it happen this week. With 3-on-3, the game is naturally socially distant. RSVP to bill@ankers.org, or, all@frizzbee.com.

Tuesday, Sept 8th, in Tewksbury

Great game last week. Let’s keep it up throughout the rest of the season. A few more players would be nice. Playing with no subs is tiring, but, we certainly get our exercise in.

See you at 5:30 at the Tewksbury field at 5:30 Tuesday, Sept 8th, at 5:30.

========================================================================

A lot has happened on the COVID front. The alarmist stuff gets the most press. However, for most in our demographic, I find the risk of health consequences is off the charts low. Here’s a few tidbits I just gathered.

World Health Organization (WHO): Currently, there is not enough evidence for or against the use of masks (medical or other) in healthy individuals in the wider community. WHO recommends masks for healthcare settings, etc.

WHO: Do not wear masks while exercising.

WHO: Safe distance is defined as 1 meter (3 feet). [Bill: great, 6 feet was useless defense]

WHO: COVID-19 is mainly spread through respiratory droplets expelled by someone who is coughing or has other symptoms such as fever or tiredness. Many people with COVID-19 experience only mild symptoms. This is particularly true in the early stages of the disease. It is possible to catch COVID-19 from someone who has just a mild cough and does not feel ill. [Bill: please do not attend if you have symptoms]
Some reports have indicated that people with no symptoms can transmit the virus. It is not yet known how often it happens. WHO is assessing ongoing research on the topic and will continue to share updated findings. [Bill: seems to me, that if it was frequent, they’d have data, and sound an alarm]

US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Only 6% of COVID deaths occur from COVID only. Of the other 94%, victoms have an average of 2.6 other morbid complications.

New York Times: Up to 90% of those testing positive, via the most used PCR test, are not spreaders. This is due to the test being overly sensitive and falsely triggering on other coronavirus, flu, COVID remnants, and other viral debris. This has led the CDC to state that if you had COVID, don’t bother retesting, as Nordic countries have done. Further, the CDC defines “close contact” as being within 6 feet for 15 minutes. If you have not been in ‘close contact’ there is no need to even get tested, and, even if you have been in ‘close contact’, there’s not need to test unless you are at high risk.

Other news reports that I have not been able to backup, have said that people are not getting COVID from dry surfaces [without a droplet, the risk is extremely low]; people are not getting COVID from people with no symptoms [how many “superspreaders” are there, really].

I’m not trying to start a propaganda war.. just providing some positive encouragement. As always, make your own decisions.

Tewksbury this Tuesday, Sept 1st

With a high predicted to be 74 degrees, Seabrook is too cold. Seabrook Beach would be even colder. So, Tewksbury it is !!!!!

Grab your mask and I’ll see you at the Tewksbury field at 6pm.

Some good news. NH is down to only 6 hospitalized with covid-19 !! YAY

Tewksbury this Tuesday Aug 18th ??

I am out of town, so, you all have to organize this one. I assume some virus friendly level can be selected from Nate’s survey. Keep in mind, the virus cannot run as fast as you can!

Tewksbury field, Tuesday Aug 11th with virus friendly rules!

Yahoo! Grab your mask and a light and a dark shirt.
This Tuesday August 11th, we will play ultimate in Tewksbury with virus friendly rules.
Our safety team has condensed a multitude of guidelines and restrictions down to 11 new rules for us. Let’s do this and see how it goes.

  • No more than 25 people at one ‘playing surface/field’
  • Facial coverings and 6 feet of separation are required for all spectators and those participants not actively engaged in the sport (recommended for spectators even further than 6 feet apart)
  • Discs will be disinfected between points.
  • Participants must wash/sanitize at arrival and before departure (sanitizer available at all activities)
  • Each player should fill out and provide the screening questionnaire for each game (to be brought with or have one sign in sheet with all the questions that they have to agree with once arriving as part of an attendance sheet for contact tracing)
  • Have a person designated to monitor for physical distancing, routine sanitizing of discs, and appropriate use of facial coverings
  • Make sure expectations, precautions, etc are communicated ahead of time and before the event starts
  • Remote/satellite defense – at least 6 feet apart, recommends 10 feet.  Remote stalls encouraged instead.
  • Any contact is a foul/turn-over
  • Do not use pinnies – ask players to bring a light or dark shirt (or both, but they suggest not having people switch teams mid-game).
  • Reduce ‘active’ players on the field at any given time to below 7v7 (they suggest 4v4 to start)

Game on! at 6:00 pm, Tuesday August 11th at the Tewksbury field.

Blowout this Tuesday, Aug 4th (no game)

High winds are expected at Seabrook Beach this Tuesday, Aug 4th. Given how 4 weeks ago, the super high winds made a 6-foot pass near impossible (and of course we did not want to get any closer), no beach ultimate this Tuesday. There will be lots of storms passing through, too.

Tuesday Aug. 11th, we will begin playing in Tewksbury with virus friendly rules! More on this after tomorrow.
