2019 SEASON OPENNING PARTY, TUESDAY APRIL 9TH at Tinu’s

On the cool side, Tuesday April 9th is the perfect day for our opener.  In case you haven’t over the winter, it’s time to carbo load for next week’s opening game.  Bring your pot luck dish if you can.  Make it a good one.

This year’s host is Tinu & Nipa !

From Tinu:

I will have some food and drinks, including some craft beers.

People can bring food, drinks whatever they like.

Hopefully, with good weather and our second spin of securing liability insurance, we will begin play on Tuesday April 16th.

2016 Season is just weeks away!!!!

Recent board-level emails:

Hey Elders,

Well the clocks have changed and the sun is shining so the ‘old timer’ is thinking about frisbee 🙂
I checked out the field last week and it is in really good condition.
The grass is matted down so it was like walking on a carpet.
The weather doesn’t look great for this Tuesday but I am hoping we can start playing soon.

Elders,

Our insurance and/or sanctioning gets granted for 6 months. Thus, the official season gets picked to be mid-April to mid-October, plus, a week or 2 of “preseason field detail.

Eldermen,

As you are keenly aware, turf in the dormant stage is utterly defenseless against thoughtless humans. Humans cause 100% of human caused field damage. We must live our lives as if we are the sleeping blades of grass. Imagine creatures 1000 times our mass, shreading our families apart with their cleats… all so they could play a silly game.

Hey Fun Loving Frizzbee Fans,

I can’t wait to get this party going! Our enthusiastic member appreciation and party planning team has been working overtime to knock everyone’s sox off this season. Already, we have 3 parties planned! The mid-summer beach bash has the band booked, fireworks ordered, and the date picked: Saturday July 16th. More info to follow once I sober up and remember it.

MVUF Group Event Coordinator

Elders,

I’m sorry to inform you that our salary increase will fall far short of last year’s 23%. To make up for it, the plan is to double the parking fees, but, don’t tell anyone, so we can pocket the extra proceeds without suspicion.

MVUF CFO

P.S. What does “Cc” mean?

Alert!

We are still looking for Brian Myers. We can definitively say that he has not been seen at any of the region’s brothels where we have focused our eyes.

Creative Contributors,

This season we will be soliciting for design concepts and ideas for our next year’s “Season 35” disc printing. Pass your thoughts and designs to Kevin Full in our Graphic Arts Department.

MVUF Marketing Department

In the “Spirit of the Game”, we will continue to play with just 1 rule, “Everything we do is meant to be consistent with the Spirit of the Game.” That leaves open the possibility of incorporating Ted’s chickens and their eggs into our game. Anything to get Ted back down here playing.

Is it really that time to begin filing the paperwork? My ski pass says it is good for another month.

See you all soon.

2015 Schedule is Posted!

2015 Season begins with a PARTY on April 14th at 7:00!

Pete will host the season kick off PARTY in Nashua in our usual style…  bring some food if you can and bring some drink if you want.  Pete will have some grill food cooking and he always has some spare beer.  Bring your winter adventure stories to chew over while we wait for the field to dry and the temperature to climb.  It will be light out, so, the Poleish Horseshoes will be set up.  This will be a great time to fill out the USA Ultimate liability waiver and fork over the year’s fee of $15.  🙂

The  2015 Schedule is posted.  We will have to play around with the beach days, as tides are not very accommodating the second half of the summer.

Year 32 Frizzbee Stats

From our award winning statistician, Dale:

Hi all,

Another season is in the books, including a great end of season party hosted by Elliot and Sierra. Thank you! Also thanks to Bill for his fearless leadership, and to Bill and Pete for their creative trophies. If you weren’t there, you really missed out.

But not on this year’s stats. You can get all your numbers right here.

Last year, we set what I thought were 5 unbeatable records:

1. Most players per game (20.1)

2. Most player appearances (522)

3. Most games with 20 or more players (12)

4. Most players in a season (95)

5. Most new players (61)

All unbeatable? Hardly. This year, we broke 2 of those, tied one, and almost broke another. The only record that might seem safe is for new players: after 32 years, it’s hard to find 61 or more new players.

First, the overall records set or approached this year:

1. Thanks to 3 basketball players (and Rachel) who joined us for the last game, we broke the record for most players in a year: 97. This beats last year’s record of 95.

2. We had the highest total number of player appearances, breaking last year’s record of 522 with this year’s 536.

a. Although we did not break the record for most players per game (34, set in 2002), we had third-highest (32 on July 29), fourth-highest (31 on Aug. 12), and fifth-highest (29 on Aug. 26). All of these games were at the beach.

3. Although the beach usually gets the high attendance marks, we set the record for most players on a field game this year: 28.

4. We had 12 games with 20 or more players, tying the record set last year.

5. We tied the record for most games played in a season: 27. It’s the fifth time we’ve played this many games.

6. We didn’t quite reach the incredible record of 20.1 average players per game set last year. This year: 19.9.

7. Although we didn’t come that close to last year’s record of 61 new players, this year’s total of 46 was second highest ever.

8. Remember the perfect weather last Tuesday? So did 22 players, the most ever for the last game of the season. (Interestingly, 22 is also the record for the season opener, set back in 2001.)

9. We came close to last year’s record number of 32 “regular” players, with 30 this year. Our statistician has a low requirement for this threshold: just 5 games. That was still one game too many for 6 players this year.

10. We had 6 “super-regular” players, with 20 or more games. That’s third-highest ever, with the record of 8 dating back to 1999.

Individual records and honorable mentions:

1. Pete’s 25 games is the second highest amount played, the 6th time this was reached, including Pete and Kevin’s total from last year. Bill’s record of 26 games set in 2000 and tied by Bill in 2007 and Pete in 2012 lives another year. Who will break it?

2. Dave raised the bar even higher on the old timer record. He didn’t just up the age by one year to a true senior status at 65, he also upped his attendance to 19 games, just one shy of super-regular.

3. At the other end of the spectrum, we have a new record for youngest competitive player. Not the youngest player ever (Ben, who wasn’t yet 6 when he played with us for the first time), but a player who can hold their own against stiff competition. This is Jared, who was only 10 years old this summer. Coincidentally, Ben was at the game when Jared set this record, 11 years after Ben set the youngest player record. How cool is that?

4. Congrats to the 3 streakers with 10+ games in a row: Pete, Dale, and Bill.

5. Congrats to the 6 super-regular players with 20+ games: Pete, Dale, Bob, Bill and Richard and Peter. Four players were just one game away at 19. Shoulda-coulda-woulda!

6. Kevin C had the most games for first-year players with 17; Bill N was close behind with 16.

7. Jason had the biggest jump in attendance: from 8 to 17.

This leads to the…

Frequent Attendance Record Trophy (FART)

No ties this year. Even though Pete had to excuse himself for 2 dead-head shows, he beat out Bill and me by one game this year. Pete has now won or co-won the FART award for the last 4 years in a row. Yet another record!

As always, here is the list of the (30) regular players this season, with 5 or more games played.
